Notices October 2011 We hope you and your children are enjoying the Scouting experience! Please take note of the following announcements, which will help with the smooth running of our scouts sessions:
Sadly, due to staff shortages, we were unable to provide a Scouts Session on Sunday 16th October. We made aware of the shortages at very late notice which obviously did not allow us to give you advance notice of the cancellation therefore please accept our apologies. We plan to re-schedule this day and will inform you once a date has been confirmed. In the meantime, if you did not get a text message from us, please ensure that we have an up to date number (mobile) for both parents/carers to ensure we can contact you in future.
Please also note that our next session is now scheduled for Sunday 13th November, not the 6th as was previously advised because the date of Eid is expected to fall on, or around the 6th.
Frith Grange is planning a fireworks events at Frith Grange on Saturday 5th November, which may be the night before Eid! Tickets for the event are £5 for adults and free for children. We need to sell as many as we can. If you would like to buy some, or can sell them to others, please get in touch asap.
Our Scout Leader, Mark Hinton is off to pastures anew after helping us to set up and run the Scouts since last year. We would like to wish him the best for the future and thank him for all the time he volunteered and skills he shared with the children.
Exciting News! Two of our staff members are fully trained to provide archery training and so we will now be incorporating archery for the Cubs and Scouts in our sessions.
We would like to welcome our new influx of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts! To earn the official badges, they will need to be invested and this will be taking place at the end of our Session on November 13th. This is a formal ceremony in which they receive their official membership. Some Beavers will also be moving up to Cubs, and some Cubs will become fully fledged Scouts, and this will be done at the moving on Ceremony. Parents who would like to attend the event can arrive for a 2:30pm start.
We still have uniforms for children that were ordered in August. Please can you contact us if you would like to collect the uniforms before the next session.
Our next activity is working towards a science badge, so the children have been requested to bring in empty bottles (2 large 2 ltr, and 2 small 500ml types preferably).
Unless otherwise stated our sessions run from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Please could all parents make a concerted effort to get the children to Scouts before 10:45 as we would like to start they day with our opening ceremony and when children arrive after this time, the plans need to be repeated which disrupts the sessions for others. The pick up time is 3:30pm and our volunteers would like to end the day at that time by packing up and locking the gates, so please do not come later 3:45pm.
In order to provide a fluent and efficient service for the children we would like to offer parents/carers the opportunity to volunteer with us. If you are able to help out on all the sessions it would be great as we can plan the activities better. If however you can only help out on some occasions, please let us know so that we can incorporate that into our schedules. We would like to arrange a staff management meeting on Sunday 23rd October at 6:30pm at our offices in EBC house. Please advise if you can attend and we will discuss how you can participate as a volunteer, as well as cover undertaking a CRB.
